The van parks and the men and women get out of the van, I get out last. I hold a small silver bag, I open it and proceed to walk around the circle of the audience. As I pass the male viewers I allow them to stick their hand in the bag and pick an item of makeup from inside. The items included mascara, eyeliner, blush with a brush, foundation, lip-gloss and eye shadow. I didn’t give directions; I sat down on the edge of the van where the doors were open and I closed my eyes. Six males interacted with me as they attempted to put on my make up, and the females held flashlights directly to my face.

The concept going along with the idea was of men not usually knowing much about make up or how to use it. So this was a chance for the guys to get creative with “decorating” my face, whether it was attempting to do it correctly or attempting to have fun. The eye shadow was one of the only items of make up that was put on correctly. The lip-gloss, and a little mascara were also put in the “typical” spots of a woman’s face. The blush was put near my nose instead of my upper cheeks, the eyeliner ran close to my upper cheeks rather than on the edge of my eyelids, and the foundation was blobbed onto my nose.
