I began my performance piece by exiting the van and dropping down a pillow. I then proceeded to return to the van and grab a fist full of newspaper. I slammed down the newspaper next to my pillow and then started grabbing the newspaper, piece by piece, crumbling it. As I smashed the paper, I placed it under my shirt and in the back of my pants. I then walked over to the van and picked up my clothing and props. I walked back to the pillow, put on my grandpa sweater and giant glasses, and sat on the pillow that was placed in the center of a semi-circle full of people. I picked up my prop and started knitting with the needles and all. However, I do not know how to knit so I sat there attempting to do so. Eventually, I got up and walked back to the van.

I did this piece because I wanted to contrast the thoughts of plastic surgery and getting old as a whole. Modernly, people strive to have the ‘perfect’ body but nobody has really seen the effects of all this surgery on your body when they get old. Aside from all the possible health problems and distorted looks, who wants a great grandma with breast implant? Who wants a grandfather with calf implants? Nobody. Even though my performance might have been ridiculously comedic, I wanted to show that this could one day be a possibility.
